Pedro Winter aka Busy P is a modern day Malcom McLaren. Impresario and musicican alike, this Parisian used to manage what is arguably the most influential dance music act since the 90s, Daft Punk, before he started his own label Ed Banger Records in 2003. Since then, he’s shown the world that it’s still possible to successfully deal with music, pushing the careers of Justice, Uffie, and Mr. Oizo to iconic highs, while anticipating and shaping a colourful trend called nu-rave with the label’s instantly recognizable artwork. At the same time, Pedro has kept his creativity as a DJ, producer and remixer: he’s re-edited Kraftwerk classics, collaborated with West Coast indie rapper Murs, and played every relevant rave in the Western hemisphere and beyond. Meanwhile, fascinated by the 90’s Chicago illusion and 120 bpm tracks talking about pleasure and the future, Boston Bun offers up his own vision of house music. With Bun’s 2011 mix Lean House, when he asked the great and the good in the underground scene to pitch their favourite house tracks down to 100 bpm, he ignited a tripped-out, syrupy inferno of his own. His remix for Maelstrom‘s House Music ushered even more people onto the dance floor, and it wasn’t long before Busy P got wind of Bun’s magic touch, and the two decided to work together in the studio. Bun’s debut House Call, and it’s follow-up the Flasher EP on Ed Banger, sees him staking his claim on French house music in his own inimitable style.
