WE CELEBRATE WORLD DJ DAY WITH TL RADIO (2011.03.09)

There is very few information about it, but today its rumored to be The World DJ Day, since 2002. Maybe it’s not highly spread anymore or the date never exists for real, but the idea behind it apparently came from the World DJ Fund and the Nordoff Robbins Music Theraphy, a charity that aims to help adults and children constrained by illness, disability trauma or isolation through music – which seems to be real a real foundation indeed. The World DJ Day website though has vanished.

Each year a series of institutions, DJs, radio stations and music labels supposedly get a full week of fundraising through events around the globe. According to Resident Advisor, there was a celebration in London, in 2002.

Throughout several years the annual tradition of DJ-charity is supported by known mass media — MTV, Radio 1, Galaxy, Mixmag, DJ, Muzik, Hello, Face, Loaded and FHM, and also stars of a world dancing scene — Pete Tong, Danny Tenaglia, Sasha, Dave Seaman, Paul Oakenfold, Paul Van Dyk, Carl Cox, Seb Fontaine, Sister Bliss and many other things.
